'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' Wins Halloween Week
-Posted by: Bing
For second straight weekend, 'High School Musical 3' displays dominance at the box office and bests over horror movies, 'Saw V' and 'The Haunting of Molly Hartley' during the Halloween weekend.
Securing its #1 position for the second weekend consecutively, "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" remains unbeatable at the box office during the Halloween weekend. Hauling in an estimated $15 million, the big screen sequel to the "High School Musical" franchise has raised the total of about $61.8 million after 10 days screening on multiple theaters across North America.
Though ending the weekend on the top slot, the Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens-starring musical has slipped to the fifth place on Friday, October 31 with $1.7 million. Still, it rebounded back on Saturday, November 1, collecting $8.2 million. Mark Zoradi, president of Disney's motion-picture group, commented, "The target audience was out collecting candy or trick-or-treating Friday, but Saturday came back like a monster." ... High School Musical 3 Reviews
-Posted by: Bing
Portrait Magazine just launched the new issue of Portrait today! It includes a review of HSM3 and the wallpaper winner from last months wallpaper challenge. Let's take a review of High School Musical 3: Senior Year by Salpi, and also special thanks to Kat from Portrait Magazine for the heads up!
Disney's High School Musical 3 is my favorite movie of all time. I really, really couldn't wait to see High School Musical 3. Seeing all of the promotions and some parts of the movie on TV has made me want to see the Disney movie even more. The Director of the movie is Kenny Ortega. The actors include: the one and only Zac Efron as Troy Bolton; Vanessa Anne Hudgens as Gabriella Montez; Ashley Tisdale as Sharpay Evans; Lucas Grabeel as Ryan Evans; Monique Coleman as Taylor McKessie; Corbin Bleu as Chad Danforth; Bart Johnson as Coach Bolton; Kaycee Stroh as Martha Cox; Olesya Rulin as Kelsi Nielsen; Ryne Sanborn as Jason Cross; Jemma McKenzie-Brown as Tiara Gold; Matt Prokop as Jimmie Zara; Chris Warren Jr. as Zeke Baylor; and more.
I got a chance to go to the HSM 3 World Premiere at USC Galen Center in Los Angeles, CA on October 16, 2008. My brother won from Disney.com to go to the premiere. It was so much fun. Compared to HSM 1, and HSM 2, HSM 3 has a lot of energetic songs and dances. It was like an all new musical adventure and fun. Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) the two seniors are facing the outlook of being of being separated from one another as they head off to college. The rest of the seniors referred to as the Wildcats made a highly structured and fun Spring Musical of prom and by reflecting their hopes, experiences, and fears about the future. ... Read More ...

'High School Musical' Stars Nominate 'Classmates' For Senior Superlatives
-Posted by: Quivi
The stars of High School Musical 3: Senior Year are growing up and moving on.
Over the past couple of years, we've seen Zac Efron, Corbin Bleu, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens go from teen idol wannabes to full-fledged teen dreams. In this installment of the High School Musical franchise, their characters - Troy Bolton, Chad Danforth, Sharpay Evans and Gabriella Montez - are graduating, saying farewell and heading off to college. But what senior year is complete without some good old-fashioned senior superlatives?
So we asked the cast, old and new, to weigh in on the students of East High's Class of 2008.
Most Likely to Laugh in the Middle of a Take
Zac Efron: Chris Warren Jr. [who plays Zeke in the series]. We don't have to think about it. ... Read More ...

Newcomers bring fresh faces to High School Musical
-Posted by: Quivi
Blonde teenage beauty Jemma McKenzie-Brown was a student at London's prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School when the news came.
The people at Disney wanted to bring an international flavour to High School Musical 3, so they were extending their casting arm all the way across the Atlantic. Jemma and her friends knew that they had to try out - if only for the experience of auditioning for a big international movie. But little did this friendly 14-year-old expect that she would end up winning the plum role of Tiara Gold, the English newcomer who becomes personal assistant to East High diva Sharpay Evans, played by Ashley Tisdale.
"Most of the girls at my school auditioned," Jemma remembers. "I had a first audition, and then I got a call back." ... Read More ...

"High School Musical 3" leads worldwide box office
-Posted by: Quivi
"High School Musical 3: Senior Year," the first big-screen adaptation of Walt Disney Co's popular TV movie franchise, rocked movie theaters around the world during its first weekend of release, the company said on Sunday.
The movie sold $42 million worth of tickets across North America for the three days beginning on Friday, and grossed $40 million internationally. It was No. 1 by both counts, becoming the first worldwide chart-topper since the Batman sequel "The Dark Knight" in July, Disney said.
The "High School Musical" franchise has generated two smash TV movies, two chart-topping albums, and made teen idols out of its stars, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale.
The plot of the new film brings the cast back to their fictional New Mexico high school, where Troy (Efron) must decide between pursuing a basketball scholarship or his song-and-dance dreams. The usual teen-angst issues ensue. ... Read More ...

-Posted by: Quivi
Hold on to your hats everyone and if you are reading this in public, stifle your collective screams, but the big news is that even before High School Musical 3 hits theaters, work has already begun on "High School Musical 4!"
According to an article in today's Hollywood Reporter, Disney Channel Worldwide president Rich Ross following a presentation at a midtown Manhattan recording studio affirmed the news that they were indeed writing a "High School Musical 4."
However, it's likely to be a TV movie unlike "High School Musical 3: Senior Year," which is slated for a US theatrical release Oct. 24, 2008, though that could change.
This news breaks as stars of the two hit TV movies are preparing for production on "HSM3' in two weeks in Utah. (Could this be time for a road trip?) ... Read More ...

Three new students enroll in 'High School Musical'
-Posted by: Quivi
Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Corbin Bleu and the other High School Musical principals will walk away from East High after Part 3, Senior Year, which opens nationwide today.
But that doesn't mean Disney is done with the franchise.
Planning is underway for High School Musical 4, and HSM3 introduces three fresh-faced underclassmen to keep the magic going.
"We tried to cast kids who weren't replacements for any of our (original) kids, but expanded the cast," says producer Bill Borden. "We're looking for new talent, so when we do make a fourth, there will be some continuity because they're sophomores."
Jemma McKenzie-Brown, 14
Hometown: London Role: Tiara Gold, an aspiring starlet who works as the put-upon personal assistant for Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale, left). "It's important to have Sharpay's coffee ready," says McKenzie-Brown of her character's assignments. "And I have to carry her lunch tray. She won't eat the corn dogs everyone else is eating — she has salmon and drinks out of posh cups." How she got the role: She appeared as a regular in the 2006 British TV series The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard. She heard about the HSM role through an acting agency in London. "It was just another audition that came along. But when I was told what the part was, I went crazy. HSM is massive in the U.K. I got the first two on DVD for Christmas when they came out. I was a little obsessed. Even before my audition, my friends always said that if we ever did our own version of HSM, I'd be perfect for Sharpay — but not because I'm a bitch or anything." Upper-class advice: "I've been closest to Ashley and Corbin (Bleu). Corbin told me, 'Walk through a mall with no hat or sunglasses on.' No matter how many people tell you what it might be like, it's hard to believe (fame) is going to happen to me." Unusual talents: "I'm a ballerina and gymnast, so I can do the splits. And I ski, but I'm not allowed to while I'm working on the movie — which kills me seeing the snow up on the (Salt Lake City) mountains." ... Read More ...

Roll Call: New Idols
-Posted by: Quivi
SO, what is it like to join the cast of one of the biggest movie franchises on the planet?
The three young actors whom Walt Disney Pictures enrolled in “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” as the next generation of teenage idols — the new Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu, if you will — looked at one another with pinwheels in their eyes.
“It’s just crazy, like suddenly I have paparazzi,” said Matt Prokop, a lanky 18-year-old who plays a sophomore basketball player, and apprentice hunk to Mr. Efron’s dreamboat character.
“Oh my God,” squealed Jemma McKenzie-Brown, a 14-year-old British actress whose character, Tiara, is a protégé of Ms. Tisdale’s persnickety Sharpay. “I got paparazzied, too!” ... Read More ...
